Applications

Metro & Tunnel Infrastructure

The global standard for underground transit systems and deep tunnels where high elasticity and permanent water pressure resistance are non-negotiable engineering requirements.

Cold-Region Industrial Roofing

Specified for large-span industrial roofs in cold climates, where the membrane must survive extreme temperature swings without losing its waterproofing integrity.

Deep Foundation Waterproofing

Ideal for below-grade applications with significant structural settlement risks, providing a reliable barrier against aggressive groundwater and soil acids.

Key Benefits

Exceptional Tensile Resilience

Achieves superior tensile values (900N+ for Type II) combined with high elongation. This allows the membrane to function as a 'flexible skin' that bridges cracks and absorbs substrate deformation without rupturing.

All-Season Weather Versatility

Maintains its physical properties across a broad temperature spectrum, from -25°C to 105°C. This ensures consistent performance throughout the transition from freezing winters to intense summer sun.

Chemical & Corrosion Shield

The high-purity bitumen compound is naturally resistant to the acids, alkalis, and salts commonly found in soils and industrial environments, ensuring the membrane's longevity in buried applications.

Adaptive Installation Protocols

Fully optimized for precision torching (hot-melt) for maximum security, while remaining compatible with cold-applied adhesives where open flames are restricted, providing flexibility for diverse site conditions.

Installation Guide

Surface Preparation

Ensure the substrate is dry, clean, smooth, and free from dust, oil, and loose particles. Fill cracks and surface irregularities with polymer mortar. Concrete surfaces should be fully cured.

Priming

Apply bitumen primer evenly and completely over all surfaces to be waterproofed. Allow the primer to dry fully before membrane installation — this ensures maximum adhesion between the substrate and the torch-applied membrane.

Membrane Laying

Use the torch application (hot-melt) method: heat the lower PE film and bitumen coating with a controlled propane flame until the bitumen melts uniformly. Roll the membrane forward with steady pressure. For projects where open flame is restricted, cold-bonding adhesives are fully compatible.

Seam & Detail Treatment

Maintain a minimum 100mm longitudinal lap and 150mm end lap. Roll all seams firmly to squeeze out a small bead of molten bitumen — this confirms a continuous, monolithic seal. On vertical surfaces, fix with metal battens and seal with compatible sealant.

Packaging & OEM

Export Standard Packing

Rolls are secured vertically on fumigated wooden pallets, wrapped in high-density polyethylene film with corner protectors and heavy-duty strapping for safe ocean freight transit.

Custom OEM Labeling

Full private label support including custom-printed wrapping film, branded core sleeves, pallet labels, and outer-package markings for wholesale and distribution partners.

Storage Recommendations

Store rolls vertically in original packaging in a dry, ventilated area below 50°C. Avoid direct sunlight and rain exposure. Shelf life: 12 months under standard conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is SBS modified bitumen waterproofing membrane?
SBS (Styrene-Butadiene-Styrene) modified bitumen membrane is a reinforced waterproofing sheet where the bitumen is modified with a rubber-based thermoplastic elastomer. This modification gives the membrane true elastomeric properties — it stretches and recovers like rubber — making it ideal for structures subject to thermal movement, structural settlement, and cold-climate conditions. It is typically installed by torch application (hot-melt), though cold-bonding methods are also compatible.
When should I choose SBS instead of APP membrane?
SBS is the preferred choice for cold-climate regions and structures subject to significant thermal movement. Its rubber modification provides low-temperature flexibility down to -25°C (Type II) — far superior to APP's -15°C. Choose SBS for tunnels, basements, foundations, and roofing in temperature-variable regions. Choose APP for hot-climate exposed roofing where heat resistance (130°C) is the priority. Both can be torch-applied and are compatible with cold-bonding.
What is the difference between PY, G, and PYG reinforcement?
PY (Polyester Felt) offers the highest elongation and movement accommodation — the common choice for substrates with structural movement, tunnels, and below-grade waterproofing. G (Glass Fiber Felt) provides dimensional stability — suitable for stable substrates and multi-layer roof systems where thermal movement is minimal. PYG (Glass Fiber Reinforced Polyester) is a legacy composite classification from the former GB 18242-2008 standard, combining polyester with embedded glass strands; it was intended mainly for mechanically fastened single-layer roofing. Under the current GB/T 18242-2025 standard, PY and G are the principal reinforcement categories.
Which surface finish should I choose?
PE Film is the standard for non-exposed layers in multi-layer systems and below-grade applications. Fine Sand (S) provides additional inter-layer bonding for multi-course roof systems and is specified for underground engineering. Mineral Granules (M) — slate chips — provide built-in UV protection for exposed roofing cap sheets. Aluminum Foil (ALU) provides the highest reflectivity and vapor barrier properties. Our spec table lists all compatible combinations by thickness.
What is the difference between Type I and Type II SBS membrane?
Type I is the standard performance grade: 90°C heat resistance, -20°C low-temperature flexibility, lower tensile strength (≥500 N/50mm PY). Suitable for general waterproofing in moderate climates. Type II is the high-performance grade: 105°C heat resistance, -25°C low-temperature flexibility, higher tensile strength (≥800 N/50mm PY / ≥900 PYG), and higher elongation (≥40%). Recommended for demanding civil engineering, cold-climate infrastructure, and projects requiring extended warranty coverage.
Can SBS membrane be cold-applied?
Yes. While torch application is the standard and most reliable method, SBS membrane is fully compatible with cold-bonding adhesives. This is useful for projects where open-flame work is restricted — for example, over occupied buildings, near flammable materials, or in confined spaces. Select from full-adhesion, strip-adhesion, or spot-adhesion methods based on your substrate conditions and wind uplift requirements.
Do you offer OEM / private label for SBS membrane?
Yes. We support OEM and private-label programs, including custom roll printing, branded wrapper film, pallet marking, and selected specification adjustments. MOQ, mixed loading, sample availability, and preparation time depend on the product and order requirements; contact our export team for confirmation.
