High-Performance Thermoplastic Polyolefin Roofing Membrane

TPO (Thermoplastic Polyolefin) waterproofing membrane is a single-ply polymer sheet that has become the fastest-growing segment in the global commercial roofing market. It combines the flexibility of rubber with the heat-weldability of thermoplastics. Every seam is fused with hot-air welding at +400°C to +620°C — no open flame, no bitumen kettles — and the white surface reflects solar radiation with an SRI of 0.85 or higher, which measurably lowers roof surface temperature and building cooling demand.

Plasticizer-Free Aging

Recycling-Compatible Material

Installation Guide

Base Course Preparation

Ensure the substrate is smooth, dry, clean, and structurally sound. Remove sharp projections and standing water.

Layout & Pre-Paving

Mark reference lines according to the roof layout plan. Pre-pave the TPO membrane and allow it to relax.

Mechanical Fastening

Secure the membrane at the overlap area using approved fastening components (screws and plates).

Hot-Air Seam Welding

Using calibrated hot-air welding equipment, weld all overlapping seams. A continuous bead of molten material should be visible at the edge.

Packaging & OEM

Roll & Pallet Protection

TPO rolls are wound on rigid cores, wrapped in protective film, and secured on fumigated pallets with corner protectors and strapping. The film shields the polyolefin surface from UV and abrasion during ocean transit.

OEM Roll Configuration

Roll width, length, and color are configurable at production. Custom core labels and branded packaging are supported for distributor and contractor programs.

Storage Recommendations

Store rolls upright in original packaging, indoors, away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and sharp objects. Extended outdoor exposure of unpacked rolls can affect surface appearance and weldability; keep storage under cover.

What temperature is used for TPO hot-air welding?
TPO seams are welded with hot-air equipment set between +400°C and +620°C, depending on membrane thickness, ambient temperature, and machine speed. The wide welding window is a TPO advantage: it tolerates operator and weather variation while still producing homogeneous, watertight seams. Welds are verified by a visible continuous bead at the seam edge and, on critical projects, by peel testing.
Is TPO better than PVC for roofing?
They are different polymer systems with different trade-offs. TPO is chlorine-free and plasticizer-free — nothing migrates out over time, so the sheet stays dimensionally stable and is easier to recycle. PVC offers excellent chemical resistance and is a proven option where grease or chemical exposure is severe. What thickness should I choose?

Thicker sheets improve puncture resistance but add cost and roll weight — 1.5mm is the value-optimal default for most commercial projects.
How long does TPO membrane last?
Industry typical design service life for TPO roofing is 20 to 30 years, driven by membrane thickness, surface color, installation quality, and climate. White surfaces age better than dark ones because lower surface temperature slows polymer degradation. Confirm the warranty period and service-life documentation for the specific formulation before specification.
Can TPO be installed without an open flame?
Yes — this is one of TPO's key safety advantages. All seams are fused with hot-air welding equipment and the membrane is secured by mechanical fastening or adhesive. There is no torch work, so TPO can be installed on fire-sensitive, occupied, or combustible-adjacent buildings where torch-applied systems are restricted.
