Installation Guide

Common Substrate Preparation

Confirm the approved roof system before installation. The roof deck or waterproofing substrate must be structurally sound, smooth, clean and dry. Remove dust, loose material, sharp projections and other contaminants that could create wrinkles, punctures or poor contact.

Method A — Roof Underlayment

Install horizontal courses from the lower roof edge upward so successive sheets shed water. Keep the felt smooth and mechanically fasten it in accordance with the roof-covering manufacturer's instructions, project specification and local code.

Method B — Hot-Asphalt System

Where the approved built-up roofing or waterproofing system specifies hot asphalt, prepare the substrate as required, apply the compatible asphalt compound and embed the felt while maintaining continuous contact without trapped air. Confirm asphalt type, laps and temperature limits before work.

Protection and Exposure Control
